Are you aware of the Environmental Benefits of Retreading
Study by the NHTSA Commercial Medium Tire Debris Study and Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) concludes that an average truck retread tyre takes only 7 gallons (26.5 litres) of oil to produce, while a new tyre takes as much as 22 gallons (83 Litres). Each retread tyre uses 56.5 fewer litres of oil and 30% less energy to produce.
A report by Golden JS, Handfield R, Daystar J and Woodrooffe J (2018) titled “Retread Tires in the United States & Canada: An Analysis of the Economic & Environmental Benefits for Fleet Operators and the U.S. Government” summarizes the environmental benefits of retreading as follows:

In simpler terms, typically a new truck tyre weighs 60 kgs. Retreading that tyre only uses up to 16 kgs of rubber materials, less than 30%.

Are Retread Tyres Safe
With the advancement in the latest technology, retread tyres are every much as reliable as new tyres.
In fact, the safety and reliability of retreaded tyres have been comprehensively studied at least 6 times over the past two decades, both in the USA and the UK, and each study conclude that retread tyres are as reliable as new tyres, and that road hazards and poor maintenance of tyres are the leading causes of tyre failures.

Our achievements :
In the past 20 years, NBR Tyres has retreaded over 361,000 truck & bus tyres, conserving over 20 million litres of oil.
NBR Tyres has shipped out of Australia over 141,000 used truck & bus tyres (casings for retreading purposes), allowing other retreaders to convert 8,000 tonnes of Australia’s waste tyres into retread tyres.
